Midweek Insight

With a long wait for Week 23, here is a summary of all the events during the week including transfers, injuries and results from the Carling Cup Semi finals.

There is a lot happening in the transfer window for some of the teams in the Premier League.Leading that group are QPR who have a player attached to them on a daily basis. However they have made some interesting signings midweek.Taye Taiwo(5.99), Left back from AC Milan( on Loan ) and Nedum Onouha from Manchester City.Bolton have signed Tim Ream, an USA international defender on a three and a half yr deal.Wigan have signed Jean Beausejour from Birmingham.
From Fantasy teams point of view i would consider Taye Taiwo as he could get in good points with his free kicks and crosses.

According to the Rumour mills PSG and Inter Milan have given up on Tevez, leaving only AC Milan who have scheduled a meeting on Friday to confirm their interest or disinterest.Other transfer news includes Chelsea's interests in Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Brazilian midfielder Willian. QPR are interested in Hugo Rodallega who has decided to leave Wigan for free at the end of the season.Liverpool and QPR are interested in taking Alexander Hleb who is ready to be released by Barcelona.

On the injury front there is not much good news for most of the teams.Nani is rumoured to be facing a long spell out from action. There is speculation that he could be out for upto 2 months.Though Phil Jones is expected to be fit before schedule.Young and Cleverley are nearing full fitness and should be back within 10 days.Gibbs and Sagna are nearing full fitness and should be back within a fortnight as well.Ireland and Agbonlahor have recovered from their illness and will resume full training on Friday.Bendtnar has suffered a major blow and is sidelined with a serious facial injury.

There is some good news for all of our fantasy teams as Senegal have been knocked out of the African Cup of Nations and we could have Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse return to face Aston Villa next week.

Finally to some Carling Cup news, Liverpool have secured a place in the finals beating Manchester City 3-2 in aggregate. This has resulted in Liverpool vs Everton ( in week 26,Feb 25th ) to be postponed and rescheduled for later in the season. In the other semi final Cardiff beat Crystal Palace in penalties to secure a birth in the Finals against Liverpool.

Thats all we have for the time being, we will be back with the Matchday Insight for Week 23 along with preview and player picks.
